RESEARCH OUT LOUD!
I write and direct short performances for academic conferences and community events.
Clients commission me to create personalised educational shows which:
If you work for a charity, I may be able to help with voluntary work.
If you are a university researcher or work for any HEI, please contact me for a quotation.
I am lucky enough to have worked with professional theatre companies such as the Royal Shakespeare Company and Shakespeare's Globe as Co-Producer and Academic Advisor. In the role of Writer and/or Director I have collaborated with over fifty organisations to provide educational shows for schools, universities, museums and heritage charities.

THE OXFORD CHRONICLES
I enjoy my work in the archives, to be sure. But I also want to be out and about in the world, running projects that directly involve the local community. That's what The Oxford Chronicles is all about. Established in spring 2025, it brings Oxford University researchers and local residents together - so that everybody has a say in what we focus on and how we do things.
The Oxford Chronicles is a collaboration between Human Historian, West Oxford Community Association, and Professor Steve Gunn and Dr Tomasz Gromelski from the Oxford History Faculty. Together we have been researching Tudor and Stuart Oxford from different points of view. We combine research (by local residents, as well as Steve, Tomasz and myself) with stories from current residents who have their own tales to tell of Oxford long ago. Academic research meets oral history! It's a powerful combination.
Watch this space for our special events at the Museum of Oxford in 2026
I am scripting a show that will bring the results of our researches to local audiences.
So there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved next year. You could act or help backstage and/or join our research team.
